Cleaning a diatomaceous pool filter requires care and attention since it operates under high pressure and presents a safety hazard. Therefore, we recommend hiring a professional to be on-site while performing this procedure for the first time. Turn off the power to the equipment - insure there is no electricity going to the Timeclock by turning off the circuit breaker at the Main Service panel. When the system is off, open the filter and remove the grid assembly. For best cleaning, dismantle the grid assembly and take note of the arrangement so that you can reassemble it properly. Wash down the filter grids with a garden hose until clean. Insert the gridpak back into the tank and lube the orings - this will help prevent leaks when the system is powered back up. Be sure to tighten the tank clamp according to the manufacturers instructions to secure a good fit. For safety, always stand back from the filter when the system is being repressurized.
