There are many tools in our tool kit that we use to detect the source of water loss. A visual inspection sometimes is our best line of attack, as with many pools under our care we know exactly where to look. Along the tile line, there is sometimes a separating at the bond beam that will allow water to exit. The opening of the skimmer is important as well to check because there is usually alot of stress there, and other openings may develop in the light niche or return fittings. Whether it's visual, dye, pressure or sonic inspection, in Northridge, pool leak detection is as common as anywhere because living near the San Andreas Fault exposes our backyards to earth movement constantly. Our pools are built well, with rebar and gunite, but over time the pressure can cause openings in the surface or plumbing, which require professional assistance.
