The filtration system will need periodic oversight to make sure that the pressure does not exceed 10psi over clean filter reading. The best way to insure this is to mark down the number on the gauge where the needle falls. This should be done after the initial dismantling when the diatomaceous earth is washed off of the grids and reintroduced through the skimmer supplying a new coat. At 7psi over the mark, the circulation of the pool or spa water will start to show negative effects like losing it's sparkle and luster, and the flow will be noticeably slower. This then becomes a downward spiral where green or yellow algae may start to appear. It is crucial that flow is excellent during the more demanding season of Summer, and coupled with the higher range of sanitizer in the water and a balanced pH and alkalinity environment. All this together will require about 1 hour a week in time spent.
